Amount of Oil: 4.5 Quarts

Tools required: 13mm wrench or socket, 3" oil filter wrench, oil disposal pan, car ramps, or jacks.

Time to complete: 1/2 to 1 hour
WARNING: Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Instructions:

  1. Jack up the front of your car using either jacks or car ramps.
  2. Place an oil disposal pan or bucket under the oil drain plug.
  3. Using your 13mm wrench or socket, remove the drain plug. Turn counter-clockwise. See 1st picture.
  4. Allow all the used oil to drain.
  5. Using your 3" oil filter wrench, loosen the old oil filter. It shouldn't be very tight and should come right loose.
    • After the oil filter is loose, you should be able to just unscrew the filter the rest of the way using your hand.
  6. Replace the drain plug and tighten the plug firmly.
  7. Put a small amount of oil around the gasket seal and thread of your new oil filter.
  8. Put your new oil filter in place.
    • Tighten securely using only your hands. Do not over tighten. It only needs to be hand tight.
  9. Fill your engine with 4 1/2 quarts of new oil.
  10. Start your car, and check for any leaks.
  11. Lower your vehicle. You are done!
